Let's Ban Republican Adoption
A law-maker in Ohio puts forth bill to ban GOP from adopting to make the point that banning gay adoption is homophobic:
Hagan said his "tongue was planted firmly in cheek" when he drafted the proposed legislation. However, Hagan said that the point he is trying to make is nonetheless very serious.
Hagan said his legislation was written in response to a bill introduced in the Ohio House this month by state Rep. Ron Hood, R-Ashville, that is aimed at prohibiting gay adoption.

Was Cheney Drunk?
Check out Google news this is spreading fast:
INEBRIATED CHENEY AT SHOOT?
A written report from Secret Service agents guarding Vice President Dick Cheney when he shot Texas lawyer Harry Whittington on a hunting outing two weeks ago says Cheney was "clearly inebriated" at the time of the shooting. Agents observed several members of the hunting party, including the Vice President, consuming alcohol before and during the hunting expedition, the report notes, and Cheney exhibited "visible signs" of impairment, including slurred speech and erratic actions, the report said.

It is Starting
Well it looks like it is starting. South Dakota law-makers have passed a law banning all abortions with no exceptions for rape, incest or the health of the mother. I guess we will soon see what the new make up of the Supreme Court means:
South Dakota became the first U.S. state to pass a law banning abortion in virtually all cases, with the intention of forcing the Supreme Court to reconsider its 1973 decision legalizing the procedure.
They didn't even want to let the voters of their state decide this:
....Proposed amendments to the law to create exceptions to specifically protect the health of the mother, or in cases of rape or incest, were voted down. Also defeated was an amendment to put the proposal in the hands of voters.....

Happiness Poll
This morning on This Week with George Stepanopolus they were talking about a new happiness poll. According to the poll 40% of republicans are happy right now, 33% of moderates and 29% of democrats.
Cokie Roberts opined that the reason the republicans were happier than the dems was because marriage and Christianity made people happier and everyone knows there are more republicans that are married and are Christians.
Actually what everyone knows is that there are more rich republicans and how could you not be happy about that!
What 5 Draft Deferment Don't Do For You -- Quote of the Day
From the Omaha World Herald:
On Dick Cheney's shooting incident:
Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, a Republican and Vietnam war veteran, told The Omaha World-Herald,
"If he'd been in the military, he would have learned gun safety."

Under the Influence
Does the Bush Bunch really think we all are stupid. My nephew once wrecked his car while drunk. Abandoned it until the next day and was charged with everything but a DUI. What better way to put off any meeting between drunk and law enforcement then to wait until the alcohol has left the system.
Mr. Cheney admits to one beer. He has at least two DUI's under his belt. How many out there really believe that if he had to talk to law enforcement officers right after the accident tht he could have passed an alcohol test?
We are being led by imperialists that think they can do anything they want and they apparently are right.
How to Use a LG VX8100 as a MP3 Player
Ok since I spent 4 days figuring this out I thought I would help out anybody who needed the information.
If you have a Verizon LG VX8100 cell phone here's how to use it as a MP3 player.
You will need to purchase a mini sd card (I got mine online for 19.99 fjor 512mb) but that was on sale. You will need a special USB cable for your phone (search froogle) and a card reader.
You will need to download BitPim to use as your program to convert your mp3s so they can be used by the phone.
In Bitpim go to ringers and click ADD at the top, find the song you want and open it. A box will come up and you click convert and when that is done click OK.
You can now put into a folder that you can access easily from your reader.
Connect the reader and insert your memory card. Click my computer and find the right removable disk box (mine was I but it can be different like G or H). Double click that and then drag and drop your converted files from your saved folder in the memory card.
That's it, the songs will show up when you press the front button on the phone and hold for about 3 seconds.
Man I'm so glad I finally figured it all out. It was driving me nuts!

Quiz Time
Take the Democratic Loyalty Quiz
Mine:
Your score is 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. You are a pure, unabashed, die-hard Democratic loyalist. You are appalled by the way Republicans are turning America into a theocratic, corpo-fascist police state, and you'd gladly walk through a furnace in a gasoline suit to elect a Democratic president. In your view, there is no higher form of patriotism than defending America against the Republican Party and every intolerant, puritanical, imperialistic, greed-mongering, Constitution-shredding ideal for which it stands.
Rock Star Senator
Our future preznit wins grammy:
U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) won a Grammy award Wednesday evening in a category rarely made for a politician: the best spoken word.
As the awards were announced at the ceremony in downtown Los Angeles, Obama was finishing his work day in Washington. He accepted the honor with humility and humor.
"While it is rare for a politician to speak for hours on end and be given an actual award, it is very flattering to win a Grammy," Obama said in a statement. "But, I can assure you I'm not thinking about quitting my day

NASA Bans Kindergartener Terrorists
City Chatter: The Terrorists of Tiny Town: Homeland security keeping our country safe from kindergarteners (hey, they could be Al Qaeda...)
The kindergarten class at Lakewood’s Taft Elementary was planning a field trip to NASA Glenn Research Center. It’s a popular trip because it’s free, because the NASA staff already has age-appropriate tours that fit well with school curriculum, and, well, it’s outer space, for pete’s sake. They’ve got rocket ships.
And NASA works the education angle hard. According to the agency, “A major part of the NASA mission is ‘To inspire the next generation of explorers . . . as only NASA can.’” And of course they talk about math and science. NASA says about 400 school groups took tours last year.
But school principal Margaret Seibel says this year’s trip for Taft kindergarteners — we’re talking 6-year-olds here — had to be canceled due to homeland security concerns.
Since new security regulations went into effect in May 1, 2005, access to the Visitor Center is restricted to United State citizens. All others might be terrorists.
No tourists from France, no exchange students from Tokyo and, no foreign national kindergarteners on field trips.
4500 New Homeless Yesterday
More than 4,500 refugees were expected to check out of their government-paid hotel rooms yesterday as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) began cutting off money to pay for their lodging.

Cutting Social Security
Well Dubya couldn't get what he wanted last year on Social Security so this is what he does with SS in the budget this year:
If President Bush gets his way, the venerable $255 Social Security death benefit will fade into history. And 16- and 17-year-old high school dropouts will lose their monthly survivor payments
Bush to cut Survivor Benefits
Poor George
Ah, I see the conservative blogs are abuzz with critisism of the King funeral yesterday. Poor George he had to sit there and listen to what 50 % of America think about some of his policies. A guy who is used to adoring audiences and softball questions had to squirm in his boots. I have to admit it was the best euology I had ever seen, it was a celebration of life rather than mourning.
From the Rev. Lowery:
"We know now there were no weapons of mass destruction over there. [Standing Ovation] But Coretta knew and we know that there are weapons of misdirection right down here. Millions without health insurance. Poverty abounds. For war billions more but no more for the poor."
From Jimmy Carter:
"It was difficult for them then personally with the civil liberties of both husband and wife violated as they became the target of secret government wiretaps."
The crowd cheered as Bush, under fire for a secret wiretapping program he ordered after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, again smiled weakly.
Later, Carter said Hurricane Katrina showed that all are not yet equal in America.

Squirm you Worm!
It was just lovely. Watching Bush Squirm today at Coretta Scott King's eulogy. How must that have felt, being inoculated against dissent for 5 years, hearing what some people think. Just Lovely.
