The Future of the Republican Party
Can you imagine this showing up in a presidential ad campaign:
Being Liberal and a Progressive in a RED STATE is not an easy thing these days. I started this blog to vent my frustrations on our lives being taken over by right wing conservatives with their propaganda machines. I have also learned an important lesson in the last year, it is that reading is the only way to get real information, you cannot depend on the news you see on TV.
"I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE"....Howard Beale (NETWORK)
This clip with Chris Matthews, Bob Shrum and Pat Buchanan really illustrates what I have been thinking alot about lately, for every innocent person who is killed either in Iraq or by Israel bombing Beirut, terrorists are forming to fight back against what they consider the aggressor that killed their relatives. Nick Robertson on CNN the other night said many of those 1000s of Lebanese crossing over into the welcoming arms of Syria were becoming sympathetic to Hezbollah and Syria:
This looks like fun:
We need Democrats across the state to design ads - either print/billboard or, for the more tech-savvy, Web/TV - explaining Jim Talent's out-of-touch positions on important issues in the campaign. Don't just send a slogan; actually design a sign or commercial. Possible issues to address include:
Certainly, many more possibilities exist. For more information about these issues and the contest, visit www.missouridems.org and click on the No Talent Show link.
Hotline on Call is reporting that Tammy Duckworth is still trailing the fundraising of her opponent Peter Roskam 844k to 1.3 m. If you can give a little to her:
I don't get it -- It is okay to invade a country drop 100 ton bombs on innocent men, women and children but it would be horrific to kill a 100 cell drop of goo that is so small you have to use a microscope to see it. Something that could possibly save millions of lives. Someone explain it all to me......please!
From Daily Kos:
So we've got Israel attacking Lebanon. Israel attacking Palestine. Hezbollah attacking Israel. Palestinians attacking Israel. Israel threatening to attack Syria and Iran. Iran meddling in Iraq. The US meddling in Iraq. Lots of terrorists and insurgents targetting the US. The US threatening Iran. Sunnis attacking Shiites. Shiites attacking Sunnis. The US and NATO fighting a resurgant Taliban in Afghanistan. Kurds attacking Turks.
And now, as predicted back when this whole mess was brewing, Turkey threatens to invade Iraq.
Turkish officials signaled Tuesday they are prepared to send the army into northern Iraq if U.S. and Iraqi forces do not take steps to combat Turkish Kurdish guerrillas there _ a move that could put Turkey on a collision course with the United States.
Turkey is facing increasing domestic pressure to act after 15 soldiers, police and guards were killed fighting the guerrillas in southeastern Turkey in the past week.
Why does anyone still give credence to the neocon jokers who helped create this mess?
I found the video of the Bush Neck rub, SO told me last night this would be sexual harrassment where he works:
Say thanks to your two Senators Kit Bond and Jim Talent, who voted no to embryonic stemcell research. They would rather have the embryos thrown away then help you!!!!!!!!!!
I really believe this man is losing it. After watching him talk while chewing with his mouth open yesterday, now this:
Josh Marshall has a pretty good analysis from a couple of emailers on why CNN and everyone else kept playing the shit Bush clip all day. I really wondered this myself as even I (the big bush basher that I am) didn't really see it as that big a deal, just kinda funny:
Beirut American Embassy
How does this man survive life when he is as dumb as an icicle:
I really like this guy. He is a true blue Democrat and says what he feels and stand up for what is right:
“As long as we allow this to be dangled in front of us because of our unwillingness to say publicly what so many of us are saying privately,” Newsom told me, “it will haunt the Democratic party.”
Ted Stevens is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation:
When is it ever going to end?
Keith Olbermann had a clip on his show last night where a young soldier raises serious concerns about old equipment his unit has to use while looking for IEDs and Rumsfeld makes it into a joke and actually laughs about it. The only place I could find any other reporting on this incident was in an op-ed piece:

The American flag stands for the fact that cloth can be very important. It is against the law to let the flag touch the ground or to leave the flag flying when the weather is bad. The flag has to be treated with respect. You can tell just how important this cloth is because when you compare it to people, it gets much better treatment. Nobody cares if a homeless person touches the ground. A homeless person can lie all over the ground all night long without anyone picking him up, folding him neatly and sheltering him from the rain. School children have to pledge loyalty to this piece of cloth every morning. No one has to pledge loyalty to justice and equality and human decency. No one has to promise that people will get a fair wage, or enough food to eat, or affordable medicine, or clean water, or air free of harmful chemicals. But we all have to promise to love a rectangle of red, white, and blue cloth. Betsy Ross would be quite surprised to see how successful her creation has become. But Thomas Jefferson would be disappointed to see how little of the flag's real meaning remains. Charlotte Aldebron, 12, wrote this essay for a competition in her 6th grade English class. President Bush will likely cast the first veto of his presidency if the Senate, as expected, passes legislation to expand federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research, White House aide Karl Rove said today.
"The president is emphatic about this," Rove - Bush's top political advisor and architect of his 2000 and 2004 campaigns - said in a meeting with the editorial board of The Denver Post.
Rove: Bush to veto DeGette billIt looks like the military needs recruits so much it is allowing people like Timothy McVeigh to join up again:
The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks racist and right-wing militia groups, estimated that the numbers could run into the thousands, citing interviews with Defense Department investigators and reports and postings on racist Web sites and magazines.
"We've got Aryan Nations graffiti in Baghdad," the group quoted a Defense Department investigator as saying in a report to be posted today on its Web site, www.splcenter.org. "That's a problem."
I hate it when the pundits talk about the anti-war left they make it seem like we are all pacifists. Don't they realize we are mostly (I know some are against all wars) against wars that make no sense. And this war seems to be for some reason that only GWB knows in his own mine. I never questioned when we went into Afghanistan and I am not a pacifist. I just wish when they talk about us they could make that clear.
From The Washington Post :
From deteriorating security in Afghanistan and Somalia to mayhem in the Middle East, confrontation with Iran and eroding relations with Russia, the White House suddenly sees crisis in every direction.
North Korea's long-range missile test Tuesday, although unsuccessful, was another reminder of the bleak foreign policy landscape that faces President Bush even outside of Iraq. Few foreign policy experts foresee the reclusive Stalinist state giving up the nuclear weapons it appears to have acquired, making it another in a long list of world problems that threaten to cloud the closing years of the Bush administration, according to foreign policy experts in both parties.
"I am hard-pressed to think of any other moment in modern times where there have been so many challenges facing this country simultaneously," said Richard N. Haass, a former senior Bush administration official who heads the Council on Foreign Relations. "The danger is that Mr. Bush will hand over a White House to a successor that will face a far messier world, with far fewer resources left to cope with it."
From Raw Story :
I just love how ever time Keith Olbermann reports on Rush Limbaugh, he says Comedian Rush Limbaugh and tonight he said that Rush said this and that on his comedy Show.
It always amazes me, what do they think other religions would think about this kind of thing, in a nation that is supposed to welcome diversity?
This is what turned me off on Joe Lieberman, the Bush kiss, now he will jump ship and run as a petitioning Democrat (what is that!!!!!!!!!) if he loses to Lamont in the primary. No Democrat should vote for this guy now and the Dems in the Senate should give up their support:
