Being Liberal and a Progressive in a RED STATE is not an easy thing these days. I started this blog to vent my frustrations on our lives being taken over by right wing conservatives with their propaganda machines. I have also learned an important lesson in the last year, it is that reading is the only way to get real information, you cannot depend on the news you see on TV.

Bush's War on Terror: Tripled in 2004

Looks like Bush is sure winning:
175 incidents in 2003
655 in 2004

The U.S. count of major world terrorist attacks more than tripled in 2004, a rise that may revive debate on whether the Bush administration is winning the war on terrorism, congressional aides said on Tuesday.

War on Terror, HA! War is never the answer. Communication and understanding are. Compromise is the answer. Does anyone really think that we can win the so called war on terror? What I'm talking about is passive survival. The French get it. Canada seems to be coming around to the French model. What is the French model? There comes a time for every superpower to fade into history. The choice is, do you go out with a bang and be gone, or do you go out by calmly sitting down and discussing your differences with your adversary? (I do'nt like the words "Foe" and "enemy") Once, France was a superpower in any man's book. A legitimate heiress to Rome herself, the French were blessed with a plethora of powerful and wise rulers like Charlemagne and Napoleon. In time, France's star waned, was eclipsed by other nations. When German troops under A. Hitler entered France, the French had a choice: Fight, and, like the Armenians, suffer a crushing defeat which would endanger their very survival as a nationality, or submit to that which is more powerful and survive with their culture intact. Germany actually did allow France to go on under the leadership of H. P. Petain, the longtime French war hero. We are now faced with a more powerful adversary in O. bin Laden and his al-Qaida movement. While they may not possess the weapons that America may have, they have the numbers, the motivation and, most importantly, time. Therefore, there will never be peace until we work this out. Instead of trying to kill our adversary, we should sit down at the peace table with them in Paris, Geneva or some other neutral place. We should find out what it was we did that offends them, and how we make it right. Then, follow through and deliver. That is passive survival. If it means pulling our troops out of Iraq and Afganistan, we must do it. If they want a mosque at the so called «ground zero», is that such a bad thing if we are permitted to survive? If putting American women under the veil guarantees our survival as a people, I feel that should be explored. The trend is toward an Islamic world order and resistance may not only be futile, it may be fatal.
