Being Liberal and a Progressive in a RED STATE is not an easy thing these days. I started this blog to vent my frustrations on our lives being taken over by right wing conservatives with their propaganda machines. I have also learned an important lesson in the last year, it is that reading is the only way to get real information, you cannot depend on the news you see on TV.

Will More Troops Be Found Killed in Afghanistan?

This story about a missing Texas Navy Seal. I wonder how many of these military that called for help are going to turn up killed. How awful:

Navy Seal from Willis may be missing in Afghanistan:

A Willis family is hoping and praying their son is found safe and sound in Afghanistan.

Marcus Luttrell, a Willis High School graduate, is a Navy Seal.

He is believed to have been with ground troops waiting for help from a helicopter that never made it. All 16 U.S. troops on the special forces helicopter were killed when the chopper was shot down by insurgents.

Lt. Gen. James Conway said the military did not yet have a full account of all ground troops involved in the operation, although "we do not have any people classified as missing at this point."

He would provide no details when asked what was known about the troops on the ground that the helicopter was sent to aid.

It's being called the deadliest blow yet to American forces in Afghanistan.

i knew marcus in high school though we were not best friends i feel you should know that he loved his country and if he was lost i promise he did it proudly and with no regret as many of us who served would have.... in times like these we live in today i think it is important for every one to understand that when the call came for help help was sent.... it is a tragedy that the rescue chopper went down trying to get to the lost soldiers but unfortunately that is a variable in war. instead of typing on your computer about how sad it is that troops are dying maybe you should try putting effort into bringing something normal from home to the troops..... send care packages to let them know how much they mean to us not pitty them for doing what soldiers in this country have done since our beloved constitution was signed.... and that is laying down our lives if duty calls. so remember next time you sit so cozy typing on your computer that the men and women in iraq and afganistan that you feel so sorry for are over there right now fighting so you can wake up and feel good about the fact that you dont like bush and the policies he enforces but the next time you type about those of us who have served or are serving remember that we were not drafted but volunteered so please don't put pitty at the same table with us..... and feel joy and happiness that the only reason you can sit and type this is because of heroes like marcus luttrell.... and his brother morgan who might i add is a SEAL as well.

Well first of all it's a little hard to respond to anyone who hides behind anonymous. While I sit here typing on my computer my thoughts are out there for all to see and comment on along with my email address.

But I will let my trusting nature take hold and believe what you write. I have never not supported our troops as you seem to suggest. My Dad was in WWII and my brother was a career Navy man.

The sad thing is the young people who join the military trust their government to have them fight for their country only when it really means fighting for their country. Not putting their lives on the line for whatever this "War in Iraq" is, I have yet to figure our why we are there.

I'd have to say there must be alot of people who believe the same way. I don't see many lining up to fight over there.

Fighting in Afghanistan was the right thing but it seems Bush spotched that too. If he had kept the troops there until the job was finished maybe both places wouldn't be such a mess.

I also went to school with Marc. He is an amazing person. This definitely brought the war closer to home. On Bush, I believe that everyone is entitled to make mistakes. Obviously the war was a great one. Some mistakes are bigger than others. It is a fact though, that every President has made mistakes - Republican or Democrat. Last time I checked, only God is perfect. By the way, the war is happening whether you agree with it or not. Sadly, there is nothing you and I can do about that. We need to remember that the brave men and women are there by choice & their faith in our country. There is no draft any more. If you truly support the troops like you say you do, then show them. Actually sending a letter or a care package is a lot better than just claiming that you support the military.

I have spent my whole life as a soldier and I'm old enough to remember what it was like to be embarrased to wear my uniform off base. I never, never want to see that happen again. You need to check a few facts. This president has an overwhelming 80% approval rating among our servicemen because they respect him and what he is trying to accomplish. As for Iraq, he is the first President in recent memory that takes on the big problems head on. 9-11 was an eye-opener to him. Afghanistan was just a punch in the nose, Iraq is a slugfest with the real enemy.....the Islamic extremists. Bush knows the that arm pit of the world called the Middle East must be taken care of once and for all. The dominos are already starting to fall. Once freedom and democracy takes hold we will see a more peaceful Middle East. Make no mistake about it. The Islamic fundalmentalists want to see you dead. They want all infidels dead. That's anybody that does not believe they way they do. Thank God for President Bush and the brave men and women of our Armed Forces.

LMAO!!! If it weren't for the lame ass brain-dead spammers trying scam people to visit their lame ass brain dead scam spam websites this would have been a cool blog Gingersnap! Then there's the obvious BUSH apologists (i.e. obvious psyops Open-Sources alternate reality engineers) offering their retarded right-wing propaganda about Operation Enduring Freedom and baby Bush.

IMO Marcus Lutrell is just another DoD Right-Wing Texas propagandist. Was OPERATION REDWING much the same way the Pentagon over-hyped that Army girl in Iraq who supposedly single-handedly rescued herself (i.e. E-Ring recruitment ploy?)???

Ask yourself: Why are we STILL in SWASIA? Why are we doing the SAME thing Russia did in Afghanistan in 1980s? Why was REDWING trying to off an al-Quaida dude (why not Ossamy Bin Laddy)? By what authority are we doing NATO's and the UN's job of peacekeeping? Why are USNAVY SEALS doing the ground-pounder work of Delta Force, SpecForces, or CIA contractors? This whole story is one big "give me a frickin' break"! Its mostly fiction IMO. IMO Lutrell is just another one of those Texas BUSH lovin' super-patriot KIDS that don't have a frickin' clue about what ENDURING FREEDOM is REALLY all about! It ain't about ENDURING FREEDOM I guarantee you! Think: Jed Clampett and Enduring Texas Tea - Enduring Black Gold...
