Being Liberal and a Progressive in a RED STATE is not an easy thing these days. I started this blog to vent my frustrations on our lives being taken over by right wing conservatives with their propaganda machines. I have also learned an important lesson in the last year, it is that reading is the only way to get real information, you cannot depend on the news you see on TV.

Thank you George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove......

I must say if anything good has come out of this God-awful 5 years it is this:

Democrats Lead by 10 in Congressional Ballot Poll

Forty-five percent (45%) of American voters say they would currently vote for the Democrat in their district while 35% would pull the voting lever for a Republican. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found 6% favoring a third-party option while 15% are not sure.

Democrats lead by five percentage points among men, by fourteen points among women. Nancy Pelosi’s party holds a staggering 30-percentage point lead among voters under 30. Separate surveys have shown that a declining number of Americans now identify themselves as Republicans.

So much for that permanent conservative majority Tom Delay and Rove always talked about!

Hi, Gingersnapp!

This is off topic (WTF is that 1st comment about?) but I found your blog while researching that clown R. Mike Feurt online. As I'm sure you know, he's written another letter to our local GOP rag/newspaper. Well, I say he's written it - it was actually 'signed' by someone from the Nashville area, but I bet Feurt is the real author.

Today's letter uses a style of writing and words like 'famous' that just sound like Feurt. That jerk has written so many letters to the St. Joe News Press, we should know his bunk from a mile away!

Well, anyway, glad to know I'm not the only Blue Gal in a Red State!

Keep up the fun work -

Kate

Hi Kate,

Wow, it is great to know I'm not all alone here in St. Joe!!

There are several regular writers to Letters to the Editor that just make me want to pull my hair out. This Feurt guy and then there is Rodney Bruns. They seem to get every letter they write published. I get about one every 6 months or so.

I didn't think about him being the one writing all the rebuttals but I bet you are right about that. Most of his letters are so full of BS when he writes about his political views I can just imagine the BS he is spewing on this subject.

(Dang, hope I'm not posting twice - I think I just lost what I was typing.) Oh, my . . . I think/realize that you write the BEST letters to the editor! Me and my family LOVE your letters! We can always count on you to write the most intelligent, excellent and scathing things. Too bad you don't get printed more often. You are Right On about that Rodney Bruns character. He gives religion a bad name, fer shur.

That lousy newspaper gets more right wing every day. They've dropped any decent editorialists they ever had and constantly print the worst offenders.

My sister likes to use the Call-In line (she's a 'shadow dancer' - HA!) and gets printed alot. However, I often sigh when I find out a good call-in is hers, cause I SO want there to be more than just us out there.

My husband came home from his Lion's Club meeting last night and GUESS WHO wants to transfer their membership into his club? Mike Feurt! ARGHHHH!!!!!! I don't know what the club is going to do, cause Feurt's (he claims his name is pronounced "Fort" - I think it's probably "Fart" !) reputation proceeds him.

Plus, he'll eat all the food at their meetings. No kidding - he is known for this scheme: he goes to a buffet and pays for the lunchtime buffet, then eats his fill. Then he stays all afternoon at the restaurant (sleeping, like he does at the library) until the evening buffet. He then fills up again, free of charge.

Feurt's jalopy van is plastered all over, top to bottom, with every GOP bumper sticker you can shake a stick at.

Yikes - hope you don't think I'm being too harsh. But, the people who support this imperial rule should be held to task. They've helped ruin our international reputation.

The K.C. Star says that Kay Barnes might take on Sam Graves. I think she can beat that little weasel.

What are you going to blog about next? Go get 'em!

Kate, it is nice to know there is someone else out there besides me that cares about what is going on. I'm sure there are more of us, I know I was talking with my maillady the other day and you should have heard what she had to say about dear leader.

Thanks for the nice words about my letters to the editor. It is maddening though that they mostly put letters in they agree with.

That "Fart";) guy sounds like a real winner!!!!!!!!!!! I feel sorry for your husband!

I have always thought it would be fun to get a group going of like minded people where we could all get together discuss what is going on and maybe what we could do about it.

I had a friend who I met through my letters and she was a "yellow dog Democrat" like me and boy was she angry about Bush and everything else. We had a good 'ol time talking until she had to move away.

I haven't really been blogging as much as I used to, I think after the Dems took back Congress I felt more relieved then I had in a long time because there for awhile I was afraid we were never going to win again.
