Being Liberal and a Progressive in a RED STATE is not an easy thing these days. I started this blog to vent my frustrations on our lives being taken over by right wing conservatives with their propaganda machines. I have also learned an important lesson in the last year, it is that reading is the only way to get real information, you cannot depend on the news you see on TV.

John and Elizabeth Edwards

I watched John and Elizabeth Edward's News Conference about Elizabeth's new cancer challenge. These are two really brave people. I really felt like Elizabeth truly believes that her husband's aspirations to be president transends even her personal health issues. Her love for her country and what she thinks John could bring to it in her opinion was more important than her health.

I was really moved by this tremendously personal revelation by the Edwards. Just think about this for a minute, stage four cancer, incurable. That is really a bleak diagnosis. Our future daughter in law was diagnosed with stage 3 thymic carcinoma and no one ever said it was incurable, it seemed we were given lots of hope. That was in October of 2003, she died in February of 2004, four months later. At
the time I had no idea it could be so quick. I was really worried at the time and was thinking along the lines of would she have five years or maybe ten, but not four months, it never crossed my mind to think that.

My deepest hope goes out to Elizabeth that this will be containable and manageable and she has lots and lots of years left to be with her husband and children. I am also going to take a second look at the Edwards campagine. I think anyone who can go through the death of a child and two cancer incidents and still want to help their coun
try deserves that.
