Being Liberal and a Progressive in a RED STATE is not an easy thing these days. I started this blog to vent my frustrations on our lives being taken over by right wing conservatives with their propaganda machines. I have also learned an important lesson in the last year, it is that reading is the only way to get real information, you cannot depend on the news you see on TV.

Unauthorized Reproduction

How scary is this, the state of Indiana wants a law that says only married people can use medical science to conceive a child:

Gays, lesbians and single Hoosiers would be prohibited from using medical science to help have a child under a bill being considered by an interim legislative committee.

......It defines assisted reproduction as causing pregnancy by means other than sexual intercourse, including intrauterine insemination, donation of an egg, donation of an embryo, in vitro fertilization and transfer of an embryo, and sperm injection.

The bill then requires “intended parents” to be married to each other and specifically says an unmarried person may not be an intended parent.

A doctor can’t begin an assisted reproduction technology procedure that may result in a child’s being born until the intended parents of the child have received a certificate of satisfactory completion of an assessment required under the bill....

State bill would limit procreation assistance

Dear Blue Gal: Great site. You want to talk red state, you gotta say Wyoming. That's where I am, involved in county Democratic Party politics. Hard to get the jaded troops revved up in this state. I've talked to a couple other blue bloggers in red states about speaking engagements, or getting together on ways to turn states like MO and WYO to at least a purplish tint. Any ideas? Keep up the good work. From Blue Guy in Red State
