Collateral Damage?
U.S. forces killed two Iraqi women -- one of them about to give birth -- when the troops shot at a car that failed to stop at an observation post in a city north of Baghdad, Iraqi officials and relatives said Wednesday. Nabiha Nisaif Jassim, 35, was being raced to the maternity hospital in Samarra by her brother when the shooting occurred Tuesday.

I wonder what it's like (both as an Iraqi and American soldier) to live day in and day out thinking that everyone wants to kill you. Every child, woman, shadow means potential death. I bet it would make you crazy. And the worst part is that everyone is stuck. The Iraqis can't walk away from their lives and the soldiers are literally stuck there with no choice.
Have you ever read "The Things They Carried" by Tim Obrien? It's about a soldier in Vietnam and what he experienced both there and after he returned home. Hearing all of the news reports reminds me of that book a lot. You should definitely read it if you have not. Makes you a little more sympathetic towards the soldiers, who are just as much prisoners in the situation as the civilians.
