Being Liberal and a Progressive in a RED STATE is not an easy thing these days. I started this blog to vent my frustrations on our lives being taken over by right wing conservatives with their propaganda machines. I have also learned an important lesson in the last year, it is that reading is the only way to get real information, you cannot depend on the news you see on TV.

The 1/2 Hour News Hour ~~ God was that awful!

I just finished watching the new Fox News answer to Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, the 1/2 Hour News Hour and it was about the worst, poorest written, hateful, racist thing I've ever seen in a long, long while.

BO magazine for "Barack Obama" (please, BO -- body odor?) -- a subliminal message that Obama like the old racist hate speech that blacks have BO. Also showing the crowds that came out to adore him are all black, taking clips from his visit to Africa, rather that the mixed US crowds that come to see and hear him in America.

Unfunny, boring and sick just like the right wing nutcakes like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter who had small appearances in the show.

Really sad!!!

Worst President Evah

Mea culpa to Bush on Presidents Day:

A year ago I criticized Hillary Clinton for saying "this (Bush) administration will go down in history as one of the worst."

"She's wrong," I wrote. Then I rated these five presidents, in this order, as the worst: Andrew Jackson, James Buchanan, Ulysses Grant, Hoover and Richard Nixon. "It's very unlikely Bush can crack that list," I added.

I was wrong. This is my mea culpa. Not only has Bush cracked that list, but he is planted firmly at the top.

Another Really Bad Clip

Another really horrendous clip from the new Fox News rival to the "Daily Show":

Fox Alternative to John Stewart and Stephen Colbert

This is supposed to be the conservative alternative to the Daily Show and Stephen Colbert from Fox, if this is the best they've got that they have released so far well Jon and Stephen ya don't have anything to worry about:

On Halloween I joined Blue Mountain E-cards when they had a funny Halloween card that could be sent to either Republicans (with a scary Hillary Clinton) or Dems (with a scary Dick Cheney), I thought both were funny, but now they have this for Valentines day which maybe would be kinda funny if there was a Repulican one but I really don't like them assuming that all dems have no family values:

Idiots Who Write Letters

Another example of the type of letter our Republican Rag newspaper prints in the "Letters to the Editor":

Shadow Dancers

Recently two "shadow dancers" pranced their way into the "It's Your Call" column, the non-signatory hideout, for a significant percentage of callers with obscure acumen and wisdom.

I reference two successive princes of dark contributors who stated that: First: "Sen. Kit Bond should silence himself and let the Democrats take care of everything" and second: "Bond hasn't said anything in 10 years." Well my-my-my-! Now let's take a factual, itemized look at your really astute conclusions:

First: Kit Bond has on national TV and in personal conversations with friends (myself included) clearly stated his solid confidence in original joint classified intelligence reports of our CIA and British Intelligence corroborating reports of Saddam Hussein's involvement with harboring top 10 international terrorists, manufacturing heavy WMDs and hosting terrorist training camps.

Just last year, British Intelligence busted a bad conspiracy of terrorists, just prior to setting bombs timed to go off, over five major U.S. cities. Just think, folks: the ACLU wants to "outlaw" the Patriot Act! Absolutely brilliant, "Just peachy" - think about it.

Kit Bond does! He was on the Senate Intelligence Committee for years. He knows that the whole geographic area that reeks of operative Saudi, Iranian, Syrian and Pakistanian (yes) financed terrorist operatives - Sen. Bond knows that a quick pull out of Iraq means more "9-11s" - why do you think they haven't hit us since "9-11?" I studied international terrorism 23 years ago at Nashville's Belmont University under the Ph.D. Director of the Nashville Police Academy. Don't negotiate with terrorists - they're consummate liars! This is more than a "restrictive Vietnam."

Second: Sen. Bond, a four-term senator and a two-term Missouri governor years back, has a U.S. Marine son, Sam, headed back to Iraq as a "sniper expert" on his second duty tour. The Bond family has a personal stake!

Third: Sen. Bond recently was a major sponsor of Federal Highway and Bridge Reconstruction funding bills. Did you notice last summer tremendous Northwest Missouri projects under construction? He is a great advocate of funding for the 139th Airlift Air Guard group in St. Joseph. He is a great friend to Northwest Missouri fire protection districts. Bond pushed through a bill adding $3.2 billion to VA medical funding.

To close, you "shadow dancers" can prance back into your "darkness."

R. Mike Feurt

Savannah, Mo.

My Rebuttal that will once again never get printed like always:

Today’s letter, "Shadow Dancers," alleges some things about terrorists, Iraq and our Missouri Senator, Kit Bond, that makes me wonder if the author Mr. Feurt has been reading too many Fairy Tale books or has just decided to pull his “facts” out of the air.

His assertion that Saddam Hussein had been harboring the top ten terrorists is so absurd I would almost laugh if I didn’t want to cry for those 3,000 plus souls who have died and are dying everyday because people believe this stuff. The Sept. 11 commission found no "collaborative relationship" between Iraq and al Qaeda, and according to the Duelfer report of 2004 the only terrorist group found in Iraq was the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK)—an Iranian opposition group that was long backed by Saddam’s regime as a counterweight to the Tehran government. Not only does the MEK have no connection either to September 11 or Al Qaeda, in the past, it has had strong support from members of our own Congress—including leading Republicans in both chambers and a former Bush cabinet member and another Missouri homeboy, Attorney General John Ashcroft.

Feurt’s polemic that Hussein was manufacturing heavy WMD has been debunked so many times a kindergartner could tell you that Iraq had no Weapons of Mass Destruction.

As far as personal stakes in this war, if Senator Bond really supports our troops why would he vote against funding for health care for former members of the Armed Forces or increases in funding for the Veterans Health Administration. If he really supports the troops why would he also vote against increased funding for Humvee Armor for soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If you think your Senator cares anything about you or the common Missouri man or woman, then take a look at some of his votes on domestic issues, like his past votes against raising the minimum wage or his most recent vote for a bill that would effectively repeal the federal minimum wage. He also voted to cut forty billion dollars from welfare, child support and student loans and voted against federal funding of stem cell research. You can check out all of Senator Bond’s votes at and see for yourself if he is really voting for your interests or for those of our military.

Cheney vs Wolf ~~ The Real Interview

Saturday, February 10, 2007

I saw this on another blog and when you compare it all doesn't seem like Obama differs that much from the rest:

* Obama: 10 years (7 state Senate, 3 U.S. Senate)
* Clinton: 8 years (8 U.S. Senate)
* Edwards: 6 years (6 U.S. Senate)
* Giuliani: 8 years (two, four-year mayoral terms)
* Romney: 4 years (one four-year gubernatorial term)
* McCain: 25 years (4 U.S. House, 21 U.S. Senate)

Lincoln Must Be Smiling Today

"The life of a tall, gangly, self-made Springfield lawyer tells us that a different future is possible. He tells us that there is power in words. He tells us that there is power in conviction. That beneath all the differences of race and region, faith and station, we are one people. He tells us that there is power in hope."
